1.0 Executive Summary
Sack bags produced from polypropylene (PP) and High Density polyethylene (HDPE) resin are becoming increasingly popular in Nigeria, as a result of growing applications of plastic materials in packaging. This is experienced in their wide variety of usage, as a result of it flexibility and strength. They have become more popular on account of their ineptness towards chemical, moisture and excellent resistance towards rotting and fungus attacks. They are non-toxic, lighter in weight and have more advantages than conventional bags. Sacks are much stronger and can withstand much higher impact load because of HDPE strips elongation, at break it is about 15-25% as compared to 30% of other bags.
As a result of its strength, flexibility, durability and low cost, PP/PE sacks are mostly preferred in industrial packaging and are used by manufacturers of: Fertilizer, cement, sugar, feeds, garri, flour, salt, starch, powder, pesticides, detergents, and many other items/products. Also, fabric from HDPE strips is also ideal for the manufacture of shopping bags, book binding, wall facing and carpet backing etc. the inputs required are also low, with one significant advantage being the lower cost energy i.e 1 unit of energy per unit of production as compared to 3.4 for steel, 3.9 for zinc and 4.9 for aluminum.

The plant under consideration can produce 1,000,000 bags per month (single production line of eight hours per day). Acquiring these plant and machinery guaranteed planned level of operation. Different sizes of sacks can be made to meet the demands of particular customers. For instance sacks of  10kg, 25kg, 50kg, 100kg etc.
